Women’s Wellness

Deidre Ras Biokineticists has a passion for educating women on their own bodies, whether it is maintaining normal function, preparing for pregnancy, during pregnancy or recovery after pregnancy (even years and years later).

We have a special interest in prevention and rehabilitation of Diastasis Recti, a midline separation of the right and left sides of the abdominal wall. It can happen to men and women, regardless of age, weight or fitness level, but it is common in pregnancy and postpartum due to the added elasticity of the connective tissue. Because the abdominal muscles help support the back and organs, a separation will cause your support system to be weakened leading to instability and pain.

We offer patients a specialized rehabilitation program guiding them through safe exercise, educating then on movements to be cautious of and how to safely return to the activities and sport they love.

Posture Correction

Sustaining a good posture is a big part of your health. It ensures that your bones are well aligned with the rest of the body, while the tension in your muscles and ligaments is properly distributed. More so, it keeps the body parts in their rightful positions with minimal stress. Because posture is dynamic in nature, we assess posture in both static and dynamic positions using PostureScreen® Analysis technology.  This allows us to objectively and accurately measure angles and linear distances of posture displacements and documents these findings for clinical assessments and reassessments.

We design a corrective exercise program focusing on strengthening the necessary areas in the facial chain and stretching other areas. We also provide kinesthetic feedback to the body by the use of kinesiology taping applications to help translate the new posture position into the new “normal” for the patient.
